5 Ways to Kick Off Springtime in the Bala-Philadelphia Area
Posted by Nicholas Cerminara on 03/28/16
There is no better place to be when spring begins to bloom than in the gorgeous and esteemed city of Philadelphia.
Welcome the Royal Athena! The perfect location to live, work and play. World-class architecture encapsulating the best in amenities and location. Studio, one and two bedroom stylish living spaces meticulously crafted to enhance your life. Convenient walking, biking or jogging access via the newly refurbished Pencoyd Bridge to Manayunk boutiques, shopping and dining. Every detail and every experience at The Royal Athena has been carefully designed to exceed your expectations. Welcome to the only place you’ll want to call home.
Fortunately for incoming residents of the Royal Athena—a pristine, new luxury apartment building that matches with both of the preceding adjectives (gorgeous AND esteemed)—they’ll find their home in Bala Cynwyd, Center City Philadelphia’s nearest suburb. To many of its residents, it’s really kind of considered to be part of the city itself.
Just call it the “Bala-Philadelphia Area.”
Bala Cynwyd is, without question, as much an exciting place to be come springtime as the City of Brotherly Love. So Athena residents and friends—you’re in luck. There’s plenty to do, see, and experience as the temperatures begin to rise. Take note of these five:
1. Find all of the world-famous cuisine you can at the 2016 Manayunk StrEAT Festival
Mark your calendar for April 10th because, that day, everyone in the city will be on Main Street Manayunk for the famous StrEAT Fest. Luckily for you (again) you’ll get a head start being in Bala—right across the Manayunk Bridge (of which luxury living Royal Athena residents boast exclusive access). More information on the event here.
2. Enjoy a show at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts
The Mann Center, although it claims a Philadelphia address, is actually closer to Bala Cynwyd than it is Center City. When the weather is beautiful, and we mean it when we say, there is no better place to attend an outdoor concert in the city than at the Mann Center’s Skyline Stage. Their spring lineup is looking quite enticing for those of all tastes, including the Avett Brothers, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Phish and much more. Stay tuned for everything coming right here.
3. Soak up the sun (and sports) at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta
Head over to nationally-famous Boat House Row, just a few minutes from Bala Cynwyd up Kelly Drive, on May 12-13 to experience the real reason for which the row is actually there: rowing. Thousands of athletes from over 100 colleges gather to put on a show at the largest regatta in the nation. Show up early for a good seat—the Dad Vail typically draws over 10,000 spectators.
4. Refine your palate along The Wineries and Vineyards Trail of Greater Philadelphia
With more than 150 wineries populating the Greater Philadelphia Area, it has cemented itself within the ten largest wine-producing areas in the country. Among that population, and along this trail, you will encounter some of the most prestigious award-winning tastes you may ever experience—all right in your backyard.
5. Get your favorite B’s in at the 18th Annual Manayunk BBQ, Bourbon, and Blues Craft Beer Fest
Back across the bridge on April 23rd, there will be nowhere else in the Bala-Philadelphia area to find a finer combination of everyone’s favorite B’s: barbecue, bourbon, beer, and the blues. A $45 ticket affords attendees exclusive 4-hour access to tastings of 70+ beers, bourbons, and some good old-fashioned barbecue—all accompanied by some great live music! Find your ticket here.
It sure is shaping up to be a spring for the ages! Especially if you live somewhere like the brand-new Royal Athena in Bala Cynwyd. It sure is shaping up to be a spring for the ages!
